Building Level Vastu Norms

CENTER OF BUILDING:
The Center Position of the buildingshould be free from any important structural elements such as column, beam, etc.

DOORS:
It is emphasized in Vastu Shastra that the location of the main door shall be where the Drishti of the Vastu Purusha is oriented and the Grahapravesh will be performed from that door, when the Drishti is exactly in the opposite direction.
If doors are Disproportionate then Legal Problems, Government Harassment, etc., can trouble the occupants.
Shorter doors can cause Ill Health and Theft Problems.
Door should always be placed accurately upright. Total number of doors, windows and ventilators on each floor should be in even number but should not end with zero (10, 20, 3o etc.).
Dwar Dosh, i.e., any obstruction in front of the gate like tree, pole, column, lift, staircase, well, etc., within a distance twice the height of the door should be avoided.

LEVELS:
Ground levels should be Higher at South West and Lowest at North East.
It can be at the same level at South East and North West.
Preferably floor should be at same level.
If not at same level then South/ South West/ West should be at highest level and Center should be at one level.
The height of the building should be same on all sides, or North should be lower than South, East should be lower than West, North East should be lower than South West.
North/ North East/ East should be lowest.

OVERHEAD TANK:
West Zone is best for placing overhead tank on land.
It should not be provided in South East and North West zones.
Overhead tank is kept at Elevated Level on terrace, should be provided in West, or South West or South Zone.

ORIENTATION:
Longer side of the building should be Proportionate to longer side of the plot.
Width of the building should be Proportionate to Width of the plot.
Orientation of the building and plot should not conflict each other, i.e., Longer side of the building is Oriented Towards the shorter side of the plot.
In case of Square Plot with Rectangular Building, shorter side of the building should be towards road.
In case of Rectangular Plot, Square Building can be placed.

PLACEMENT OF BUILDING:
Whenever a person enters a plot he should turn right hand side to enter the house.
Buildings should be placed such that it has more open space in North and East than South and West.
Buildings should be placed in accordance with the length and breadth of the plot, i.e., Rectangular buildings are preferable in Rectangular plots.

ROOF:
Roof of the building should be at same level, or It can be Highest at South West and Lowest at North East.
If slope is on one side then West should be higher than East and South should be higher than North.
Slope should be Symmetrical / Equal on both the sides.

SHAPE:
The shape of building should be Symmetrical to both the axis-xx and yy.
Reduction in North East, South and West is permissible.
Depth to width ratio of building should not be more than 2 : 1 and not less than 1 : 1.
Building is wider in proportion to its depth i.e, Width > Depth.

SEPTIC TANK:
Best location for Septic Tank is North West and South East zones.
The strictly prohibited zones are North East and South West zones.

COMPOUND WALL:
North Wall can be LOWER than South Wall.
East Wall can be LOWER than West Wall.

ELECTRICAL POLE TRANSFORMER:
The best location to provide Electrical Pole Transformer is the South-East zone.
Alternatively, it can be provided in the North-West or East zone.

ELECTRICAL SUB-STATION:
South East Zone is best for placing Electrical Sub-Station, Transformation or Main Meters in building.
It can also be placed in North West Zone.
