Architectonics, as it is called, is the science of Architecture of Ancient India. Vastu, the ancient science of building, has its origin in the Vedas and is thousands of years old. It is considered to have its source in the high spirituality of our sages who followed the principles laid down by the greatest architect Vishwakarma.

While Sthapatya Veda is the main source, reference to Vastu has been made in Agni Purana, Matsya Purana and Shiv Purana. Even Bhrigu Sanhita and Narad Sanhita have dealt with this subject.

Vastu Shastra contributes to a Good Part of Sanskrit Literature of Ancient India. The three important access to Vastu Shastra are Tamil, Sanskrit and French culture. Looking at the antiquity of Vastu and its origin from the Vedas, we comprehend that it is very difficult to obtain genuine Vastu Literature.
